Volunteer Work

Volunteer Programmes
Forest and Bird does not offer full time volunteer programmes. We receive many enquiries regarding the possibility of students volunteering in the conservation field. Unfortunately we cannot assist because of the time commitment this would involve for our full time staff.

Local Volunteers
If you have some spare time and would like to assist with tree plantings or any other activities that our local branches undertake please contact our branches directly. Click here for a list of contact details.

Administrative Volunteer Work
We have offices in Wellington, Auckland, Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin so if you are willing to assist with clerical duties during office hours on an on-call or on-going basis please contact these offices stating the times and days you are available and what sort of work you wish to do.

Current Vacancies

Warden for Ruapehu Lodge

A warden is required for Forest and Bird’s Ruapehu Lodge during the winter of 2008.  Ideally we are looking for someone to start end of April or beginning of May through to end of September. However, we will also consider applicants who may be available for a portion of the season.

Free accommodation (own double bedroom) is offered in return for cleaning and supervision of maintenance.

Click here for a list of duties or contact Debbie Allison on d.allison@forestandbird.org.nz or phone 04 385 7374.
