The Waihi branch has 30 members spread between the Waihi Basin, Waihi Beach, Katikati and Whangamata. Branch matters are generally discussed every Tuesday between the members who work in the HELP nursery. More
The branch is currently working on a few projects, involving plant propagation, spray work, poisoning unwanted exotics, and various pest control projects.
Volunteers can get involved in numerous ways. There is a plant propagation project at the Waihi Inc nursery and the Opuiaki exotics clearance project involves taking a team to the area beyond Ngatuhoa Lodge in the Kaimai Ranges to work on poisoning unwanted exotics.
Hollis Bush Reserve
Hollis Bush is a reserve within the Waihi College grounds. The Waihi branch has taken an active interest in this bush for many years, extending the perimeter and working with school groups to improve the health of the bush.
