Volunteers get their hands dirty at Greendale Earth Day
Volunteers are the life-blood of our organisation, clocking up an estimated 864,000 hours each year helping out on a variety of tasks that contribute to enhanced protection of our native plants, animals and habitats.
If you would like to get involved in any of these activities, please contact your local branch. For information on work experience, contact your nearest regional office.
Forest & Bird also undertakes an annual trip to Vaathe Conservation Area in Vanuatu to work on conservation projects, particularly eradication of “big leaf vine” which is smothering much of the native forest there.
This two week trip, led by our South Island Field Officer Sue Maturin, includes day treks, a workshop on customary medicine & weaving and village tours. (Cost of travel is met by participants).
