North Canterbury: MARCH for Climate, VOTE for Nature

 We are gearing up for the General Election on 20th September 2014 and want to ensure Climate Change is an election issue. 

Forest & Bird are inviting all political parties to step towards a future in which things that are good for nature which means more jobs and economic resilience, as well as birdsong, clean rivers - all of the things that we love.

Please join us on Saturday 13th September on our MARCH for Climate, VOTE for Nature!

Forest & Bird North Canterbury Branch, in collaboration with other NGOs including 350 Aotearoa, the OraTaiao (the New Zealand Climate and Health Council), Generation Zero, Greenpeace, Coal Action, Oil-Free and Frack-Free Christchurch are banding together in Christchurch to raise pre-election awareness of environmental and climate issues.

It will be fantastic occasion, a chance to do something positive and exciting with like-minded people, and a chance to show our political leaders we care.

So book the date, the time and the place.


We will meet up at Deans Bush on Saturday 13th September at 12:30pm and the MARCH will begin at 1pm.


Deans Bush, Riccarton down Riccarton Road to Hagley Park

The route for the MARCH / HIKOI will be to Riccarton Road then East to Hagley Park where we will hear from some great speakers. Later there will be a chance to proceed to the closest Polling Booth and cast an early vote if you wish.

In the unlikely event that the weather is not suitable on Saturday the MARCH will be postponed until Sunday.
