We are always looking for ways to involve people in the care and preservation of our natural world. Helping out is not only interesting and rewarding it is also satisfying to know that you are building a brighter future.

As a volunteer you meet people of all ages, skills and interests and develope new friendships. Below are a number of ways in which you can be part of the action.

Join the Kiwi Conservation Club

KCC is for kids that are "wild about nature". Check out the KCC page for interesting facts as well as games and puzzles.

Help create Places for Penguins

Volunteer to help re-establish Penguin friendly habitat on the Mirama Peninsula. Beach clean-ups, planting, weeding, surveys and pest control are all part of this long term project.

Volunteer at our Plant Nursery

Learn about native plants and help with their cultivation. Sessions are held on alternate Saturdays and Sundays from 1:30pm and every Tuesday morning from 9:15am.

Attend a Blue Wellington Meeting

Our marine environment conservation group that meets every month to discuss ways and share ideas on how to improve the health of our harbour and coastline.

Participate in our Green forum  

Join others at these relaxed informal meetings held monthly in convivial surroundings. Work towards the vision of Wellington as a centre of excellence in biodiversity and conservation and a place of outstanding natural beauty.

Bring your ideas to the Climate Action group

A 2+ degree climate rise will be devastating on our natural ecosystems. Join the Climate Action group to work towards a climate neutral Wellington. Action can be positive and community building, and pitched at many levels. We would love for you to help us.
