Meet at 98 Park Hill Rd. (off Birkenhead Ave) at the northern entrance to the reserve at 9:30am. Bring a bottle of water, a raincoat and a snack plus binoculars if you have them. Allow 2.5 hours. The most striking feature of this area is the mass of Arundo donax, a tall exotic grass which has naturalised on the North Shore. Among the native tree species, mature kahikatea, miro, tanekaha and kauri abound. Sundew has also been found here. Contact Margi Keys.
