Central Auckland: Public meeting - the Case for a Kermadec Sanctuary

The Kermadecs – Karen Baird
 Sunday, 19 September 2010

Karen works from the Auckland office of Forest and Bird and is spearheading an exciting new campaign in partnership with Pew Environment Trusts’ Global Legacy project and jointly with WWF-NZ (World Wildlife Fund for nature) to create the largest protected marine area on the planet.

Come and hear of our successful endeavours during the year.

Karen is also a wonderful nature photographer, and has taken some great photos of the Kermadec area  - click here to see

Karen is also one of a team currently on a ship searching for whales at the Kermadecs.  She is writing a daily blog so we can keep up-to-date about her adventures http://blog.forestandbird.org.nz/chasing-whales/  and will even have some brand new additional photos to show us! Come to see some of her photos at this meeting.

Meeting open to all.  Members from other branches are especially welcomed as this is a major project for F&B this year.

 Afternoon tea follows the meeting.

Donation of a gold coin to help defray costs is appreciated.
