We will cross the train track to the track near the Marae. We’ll walk around the loop, which has great views from the top. Then we will drive to the 40ha Pukemokemoke Reserve via SH1B, where Warwick Silvester from the Friends of Pukemokemoke will talk to us about what the group has been doing to restore the reserve over the past few years. The reserve enjoys a rich diversity of native plant species and bird life. There are over 300 plant species, including matai, kauri, totara, tawa, rimu and native beech. Privet has been dealt to in unconventional ways.
