The DOC Skink Recovery team has completed its annual monitoring of the Otago skinks and Grand skinks on the Lindis-Hawea ranges, and the live capture of some juveniles.

They will be cared for as a back-up reserve for the western populations which continue to diminish.
Before returning to Dunedin, the team invited F&B to view the 11 specimens captured.
This provided a valuable opportunity to see the two species at close range, assisting us with casual field identification.
We also learned more about effective surveying techniques, and possible locations for populations.
