Update from Fern Bird Flats Te Atatu Peninsula

Te Atatu Peninsula resident representatives of the Forest and Bird Motu Manawa Restoration Group (FBMMRG) have started to maintain a pilot stoat trap line in the Harbourview reserve. Six stoat traps and bait have been supplied by the Auckland Council. So far no stoats trapped, but two rats killed. Early days yet.

Two representatives of FBMMRG – Kent Xie and Michael Coote – have an article about Harbourview’s fernbirds published in the latest Forest and Bird magazine. As a result of the article, Michael was invited in to an interview about the fernbirds with Radio Live’s Graeme Hill. The soundtrack for the interview can be found at:http://www.radiolive.co.nz/Environews-Michael-Coote-Motorway-Fernbird/tabid/506/articleID/30097/Default.aspx.
