Lucas Creek & Paremoremo Bird Survey

You are here:

This is a survey for everyone living in the Lucas Creek Bush and Paremoremo areas. We want to know what birds you can find on your property: but you don’t need to be an expert.

How do I do it?

Spend an hour any time on the 14th or 15th of November 2009 watching for birds on your property. Do it on your own or with others.

You may break the hour up into segments – eg, 2x30 minutes, 4x15minutes. Birds are usually easiest to find in the morning and in fine weather. Binoculars will be useful, if you have them.

What do I record?

Record on the sheet overleaf which species you see. Also record the maximum number of each species at any one time during your survey period.

Do not add together birds seen separately. If you can’t identify a certain bird you will be able to look it up on our website:
Please also record date, time, the weather, your property address, type of environment (e.g. bush, paddock, garden), your name/s and contact details. We may contact you again re the survey, but will not pass your details on to anyone else.

What do I do with the form?

Post the completed form to Northern Regional Office, Forest and Bird, PO Box 108 055, Symonds Street, Auckland 1150. Please return the form as soon as you can.
