Blue Wellington is a forum to encourage the sharing of ideas and improve the health of our coastal and marine environment.
Meetings are open to everyone. The first meeting was held in December 2008 and attracted people from all walks of life. Specialists in the field of science and conservation met with people from other disciplines, all with a common interest in Wellington’s waters and the beasties that live in them.
It works through cooperation and community involvement. Blue Wellington is a focal point where marine issues can be discussed in a social setting over a drink. Enthusiasts, specialists and those with an interest in the topic can meet informally to show 'n' tell of passions and insights. An opportunity to network and receive:
Blue Wellington also has a planning group which organises the evenings, and schemes about marine protection in the Wellington region, further input and ideas welcome. We need a whole suite of skills to draw on; planning, design, and finance as well as writing, organising and specialised knowledge. If you'd like to contribute, then come to the meetings ............ we’d love to hear from you!
We meet on the first Wednesday of every month from 6pm till 8pm ( longer if you're real keen !) mainly at the Southern Cross Bar, Abel Smith Street. Its an opportunity to bring people together, share knowledge and get involved in the promotion and protection of our 'Blue' treasures...
