Waitakere Forest & Bird invites you to their  West Auckland Election Candidates Evening on environmental and conservation matters.

The Local Body elections are being held on the 12th of October both for Auckland Council’s Governing Body and the Local Boards. Forest & Bird Waitakere invites you to listen to the candidates for the Waitakere Ranges Local Board and Henderson-Massey Local Board as well as for the position of Councillor for the Waitakere Ward.

A good number of candidates have already confirmed their attendance, amongst which current Councillor Linda Cooper, incumbents for the position Shane Henderson and Greg Presland (the former currently chair of the Henderson-Massey Local Bard the latter currently chair of the Waitakere Ranges Local Board), Dillon Thooth and Tricia Cheel.

For the local boards we’ve received confirmations from Chris Carter, Murali Kumar, Ingrid Papau, Brooke Loader, Shane Henderson and John Riddell, all standing for Henderson-Massey. We’ve also heard a good contingent from the Future West (amongst them Greg Presland, Saffron Toms and Sandra Coney) and WestWard teams (Ken Turner, Michelle Clayton and others) will be coming.

It will be a very interesting evening, where we will ask them on where they stand on environmental topics related to our area. You will then have the opportunity to ask them your own questions (which we draw from the hat).

We will conclude the formal part of the meeting at 9:30pm and during supper candidates will have opportunity to mix and mingle with those attending.

Damon Birchfield, CEO at EcoMatters, will be the MC for the evening, keeping all candidates on topic and on time.

We hope to see you there!

Annalily van den Broeke – chair  - on behalf of the Forest & Bird Waitakere branch committee.
