Through his photography Jean-Claude Stahl showcases joint Te Papa and Department of Conservation expeditions to survey Fiordland's isolated coastline and interior. He introduces us to the humpback whales, former Māori settlements and pounamu gathering sites, seal colonies, lush rainforest and the new seabirds colonies he encountered along the way.  He also photographed plants in Dusky Sound which were described for the first time by Forster, during Cook’s second expedition.
