Meet and register at 9.30am at the parking area at the end of Coutts Island Road (just past 589 Coutts Island rR) - see map. There is about a 30 minute walk to the planting area. Bruce Craig who is a Forest and Bird member who volunteers regularly at the Sanctuary will meet people at the carpark.

'The Sanctuary' is an Ecan reserve on the banks of the Waimakariri river. Forest and Bird is helping Greg Stanley, the ECan Biodiversity Ranger, to plant native trees to provide habitat and food for bush and braided river birds and other native fauna.

Spades are provided but please bring your own gloves.There will be a cuppa and baking after the planting. If you are feeling unwell please stay at home.
