Alison Ballance will talk on “Takahē - bird of dreams”.
Natural history writer Alison Ballance will share tales of Aotearoa's remarkable giant flightless takahē, which was twice declared extinct before a dramatic rediscovery in Fiordland 75 years ago. She will take us on the roller-coaster ride that the takahē population and DOC's Takahē Recovery Programme have been on since then.
A dramatic story that she tells in her new book, "Takahē - bird of dreams".
Cup of tea available before the meeting.
