Mark Anderson will talk about - The Katipō coast

Katipō are in decline around our coasts yet are still found in high densities on the East coast of Marlborough. The uplift from the 2016 earthquake provided new habitat for this iconic spider, which they are beginning to use. However, it is too early to know the effects on the larger population in the established dune. This talk will give an overview of katipō ecology, where they are found in Marlborough and highlight the knowledge gaps for many of our endangered invertebrates .
