It’s time to stand together for Tīkapa Moana the Hauraki Gulf. Despite a massive public mandate, the government continues to allow bottom trawlers to bulldoze the seafloor of this precious Marine Park. On April 11 (wet weather date April 18), Forest & Bird and Greenpeace Aotearoa alongside local iwi and community groups are sending an unmissable message: Ban bottom trawling now.
Join us for a powerful show of unity. Whether you’re on a boat, in a kayak, or on the sand, your presence matters.
THE PLAN
A flotilla will sail from Ōkahu Bay to Oneroa, Waiheke Island, joining the crowd on the beach for a day of joyful celebration, aroha, and protest. Environmental organisations, local iwi, and the community will be on site to share the work they do for Tīkapa Moana and offer ways for everyone to get involved in protecting our blue backyard.
