Nicholas Harker – Lizards in New Zealand
President of the New Zealand Herpetological Society and local herpetologist Nick Harker will be sharing his extensive knowledge on lizards with us, and even bring some for us to view!
Most people will be familiar with the small brown skinks that live in backyards, but did you know that New Zealand has over 120 species of lizards (geckos and skinks) which can be bright green, orange, or red, occupy nearly every habitat, and some can be over 30cm long?
He will give an overview of the ecology, diversity, and conservation of lizard species in New Zealand. Attendees will also get the opportunity to encounter some live New Zealand lizards at the end of the presentation.
We are in our temporary location of the Ranui Community House, 474 Swanson Road, opposite the Ranui Library.
