The nursery is a joint project of Wellington and Lower Hutt Branches and supported by Greater Wellington. It was officially opened on 30 July 2021. It grows eco-sourced plants from the Tararua Ecological District, mainly from seed although seedling collection and cutting production is also undertaken.

You can help by contacting the Lower Hutt Branch and putting your name on the nursery volunteer roster. The work sessions are three hours in duration starting at 9:30am.

The plants are supplied to organisations and individuals that are engaged in native plant conservation in this ecological district ie. Wainuiomata and Hutt Valley with our priority sites being:

Baring Head, Manor Park, Waiu wetland, Waiwhetu Stream and Wainuiomata Recreation Area
