Ours Not Mine

Forest & Bird are fighting to ensure that all public conservation land is protected as refuges for our diverse native wildlife, forests, tussocklands and wetlands.

When habitats are destroyed, plants and animals you won’t find anywhere else in the world have a very real chance of being lost forever.

Mining on conservation land occurs in areas with extremely high conservation values and very threatened species – including kiwi. Even smaller mining operations are destroying forest or ecosystems that are home to threatened or vulnerable species. We’re working hard to stop any new mines on public conservation land.
