World Wetland Day is worth celebrating, especially since we don’t have much of if left in New Zealand. Easy to drain for farming or houses, over 90% of our wetlands have gone, and with it the habitat for our native birds and insect.
Our final issue of the year has a health and wellbeing theme. We look at the latest research about how being out in nature makes us feel better mentally and physically. Apparently, trappers are the happiest and healthiest conservationists!
The Ngaruroro River in Hawke's Bay is one of the very few intact braided rivers in the North Island. In the upper reaches the river is pristine, and throughout the entire length of the river the water quality is very high.
