The Government agency charged with regulating mining under the Crown Minerals Act has been captured by industry, the State Services Commission (SSC) inquiry into private spies Thompson and Clark revealed today.
The project will be wrapping up for Forest and Bird and Working Waters Trust in April or May next year due to most of the plants reaching maturity, and scaled-back plans for the wetland.
The Department of Conservation has sided with Forest & Bird in a bid to protect a significant wetland from being mined without public notification, and Forest & Bird says they are delighted to see DOC take a stand.
There are two rounds of reform. Stage 1 is relatively minor or technical changes which generally reverse changes made by the previous government. Stage 2 will look at more comprehensive reforms.
Given in recognition of significant long term service in advancing conservation and the Society’s objectives, in particular at a National level, this is the Society’s highest award. This person will have acted in a m
