Te Rere Reserve is owned by Forest & Bird and is managed by the Southland Branch.  It is a remote site and is accessed through private farmland.  For this reason visits are only possible on an official Branch workday and groups need to go in and out of the reserve together.  Bookings are essential.  Free transport is available – bookings need to be made by 31 July 2021.

As a remote coastal site the working days are long (setting off from Invercargill around 8.30am and getting back around 6pm).  You will require a good level of fitness and warm clothing, wet weather gear and sturdy boots and gloves if you need them.  Spades are provided but bring your own if you have one and all other personal equipment, first aid kit and food (incl lunch & snacks) and water.
